Okay, so I recently got my hands on the new iPhone 15 Pro Max, and you know the first thing you gotta do – protect that investment! Especially those fancy camera lenses. They stick out, and I’m clumsy, so a camera protector was a must.
The Hunt Begins
I started by looking what was on offer. So many choices! Tempered glass, plastic film, some weird hybrid stuff…it was overwhelming.
Making a Choice
I am easily getting lost in all the descriptions and reviews. And finally ended up grabbing a tempered glass one from a brand I’d never heard of. It was cheap, and, well, I figured “glass is glass,” right? Wrong.
Installation Attempt #1
- I cleaned my phone’s lenses like a maniac. No dust, no fingerprints, nothing.
- Then carefully peeled off the backing of the protector.
- And try to line it up.
It was a disaster! The protector was slightly too small, leaving a tiny gap around the edges. Plus, it didn’t stick properly in one corner. Ugh.
Attempt #2 (with a Different Brand)
Pulled that first one off (which, thankfully, it did come off cleanly). I’d also ordered a different protector, this one a bit more expensive, and it promised “bubble-free installation.”
- I went with a slightly more reputable tempered glass brand, and you know what they say that pay cheap, pay twice!
- Repeat all the steps! Clean, peel, align…
This time, It’s much better! This one fit perfectly, edge-to-edge. And the “bubble-free” thing? Totally true. It adhered smoothly, no trapped air. Phew!
The Result
Now, my 15 Pro Max has some extra protection on those precious lenses. I can toss it in my bag without worrying (as much) about scratches. It doesn’t seem to affect the photo quality at all, which was my biggest concern. Everything looks just as crisp and clear as before.
So, my advice? Don’t cheap out on the camera protector. Spend a few extra bucks and get one that fits properly and has good reviews. It’s worth it for the peace of mind!
