So, I recently got my hands on a Samsung Watch 6, and like any tech enthusiast, I was eager to see how far I could push its functionalities. One thing I really wanted to get working was connecting it to my Eufy security cameras. I’ve got a few of these set up around the house, and being able to quickly check them from my wrist seemed super convenient. Here’s how I went about it.
First, I made sure everything was up-to-date. I mean, that’s like rule number one, right? I checked the Eufy Security app on my phone, checked for firmware updates for the cameras themselves, and made sure my watch’s software was current. Gotta have all your ducks in a row before you start messing around.
Next, I dived into the apps. I already had the Eufy Security app on my phone, obviously, but I needed to see if there was a companion app for the watch. So, I went into the Galaxy Wearable app and searched for “Eufy Security”. Initially, I didn’t find a dedicated app. That was a bit of a bummer.
But, I’m not one to give up easily. I started thinking about workarounds. Since there wasn’t a direct Eufy app for the watch, I figured notifications were my best bet. I went into the notification settings on the Galaxy Wearable app. From there, I made sure that notifications from the Eufy Security app were enabled and set to show up on the watch.
Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3
Time to test it out! I triggered one of my Eufy camera’s motion sensors by just walking past it. And… ding! Notification on my phone, and… ding! Notification on my Samsung Watch 6. It worked! I could see the notification on my watch telling me which camera detected motion. Pretty sweet!
- What I got working: Notifications from the Eufy Security app to my Samsung Watch 6. This means I get alerts on my wrist whenever a camera detects motion.
- What I couldn’t do (yet): I couldn’t view a live feed from the cameras directly on the watch. There’s no dedicated Eufy app for that on Wear OS, at least not at the moment.
So, it’s not a perfect solution, but it’s still pretty useful. Now, I get a quick heads-up on my wrist whenever something’s happening around my house. I can then pull out my phone and check the live feed if needed. It’s that little extra layer of convenience I was looking for.
Hopefully, in the future, Eufy will release a dedicated Wear OS app. That would be the ultimate setup. But for now, this notification workaround does the trick. I’m happy with it!
