Okay, here’s my blog post about the RingConn charging case versus the dock:
So, I finally got my hands on a RingConn smart ring, and I’ve been messing around with it for a while now. One thing I wanted to really check out was the charging situation. It comes with this little charging case, and they also sell a separate charging dock. I was curious which one was actually better for daily use.
The Charging Case
First up, I started using the charging case that came in the box. It’s pretty slick, I gotta say. Kind of like a fancy AirPods case, but bigger, obviously, because it’s for a ring.
- Opening it up: You just pop it open, and there’s a little spot inside where the ring sits perfectly. It’s magnetic, so the ring snaps right in. No fumbling around.
- Charging it up: The case itself has a USB-C port. I plugged it into my regular phone charger, and a little light came on to show it was charging. Super straightforward.
- How long:It fully charged both case and ring in about an hour. Pretty Good.
- Portability:The case is a big plus. I could toss it in my bag and not worry about the ring getting scratched or lost. Plus, it holds extra charge, so I could top up the ring even when I wasn’t near an outlet.
The Charging Dock (Sold Separately)
Then, I got the charging dock. This thing is more like a little stand. It’s got a nice, weighty feel to it, so it doesn’t slide around on my desk.
- Setting it up: The dock also uses USB-C. I plugged it into a different port on my charger, just to see if there was any difference in speed.
- Placing the ring: There’s a designated spot on top of the dock where the ring sits. Again, it’s magnetic, so it’s easy to get the ring in the right position.
- Charging time:Charging time about the same. Took around an hour to get a full charge.
- Looks: I have to admit, the dock looks pretty cool on my nightstand. It’s like a little display for the ring.
My Verdict
After using both for a week, here’s what I figured out:
The charging case is definitely the winner for travel and portability. It’s protective, and the fact that it holds a charge itself is a huge bonus. I felt much better throwing the ring in my bag knowing it was safely tucked away in the case.
The charging dock is great for at-home use. It’s convenient to just drop the ring on it when I’m not wearing it, and it looks nice on my desk.
Honestly, if you’re only going to get one, I’d say go with the case. It’s more versatile. But if you’re like me and you like having things organized and displayed nicely, the dock is a nice addition. It’s not essential, but it’s definitely a nice-to-have.
So there you have it, my experience about the charging case and dock!
