Okay, so I’ve been rocking the Fitbit Inspire 2 for a good while now, and it’s been pretty solid. But then the Inspire 3 came out, and I was like, “Hmm, shiny new thing!” So, I decided to take the plunge and see what the fuss was all about. I grabbed one, and here’s how it all went down.
Unboxing and First Impressions
First things first, I ripped open the Inspire 3 box. Gotta say, the packaging is pretty much the same as the Inspire 2 – simple, clean, no complaints there. I got the black one, ’cause I like to keep things classic.
I held the Inspire 3 next to my old Inspire 2. The first thing I noticed? The screen. The Inspire 3 has a color display, which is way nicer than the monochrome screen on the 2. It just pops more, you know?
Setting It Up
Setting up the Inspire 3 was a breeze. I already had the Fitbit app on my phone, so I just added a new device, followed the prompts, and boom – connected. It took like, what, 5 minutes? Super easy.
Wearing Both for a Week
To really compare these two, I decided to wear both for a full week. Yeah, I looked a little extra with a tracker on each wrist, but hey, gotta get that data, right? I wore the Inspire 2 on my left wrist and the Inspire 3 on my right.
Here’s what I noticed:
- Comfort: Both are pretty comfy, but the Inspire 3 feels a bit smoother, maybe because of the slightly different shape.
- Screen Visibility: The Inspire 3’s color screen is a definite win, especially outdoors. I could see things much clearer in bright sunlight.
- Battery Life: Both are supposed to last around 10 days, and that held true in my testing.
Checking Out the Features
I dug into the features next. I use my Fitbit mostly for step counting, sleep tracking, and checking my heart rate. Both trackers do all of these things, but there are some differences.
- Sleep Tracking: The Inspire 3 seemed a tiny bit more detailed in its sleep stage breakdown. I got more info on REM sleep, which was cool.
- Heart Rate Monitoring: Both were pretty consistent, no major differences there.
- Active Zone Minutes: Both have this feature, which tracks how much time you spend in different heart rate zones. No big changes there.
- SpO2 (Blood Oxygen): The Inspire 3 has SpO2 tracking,The inspire 2 did not, it can show blood oxygen trends.
Making a Decision
After a week of double-wristing it, I had to decide which one to keep as my daily driver. Honestly, it was a tough call, because the Inspire 2 is still a great tracker. But, the color screen, the slightly improved sleep tracking, and the overall smoother feel of the Inspire 3 won me over.
So, I’ve officially switched to the Inspire 3. I’m keeping my Inspire 2 as a backup, though. You never know when you might need a spare!
If you’re trying to decide between the two, I’d say, if you can swing the extra cost, go for the Inspire 3. The color screen alone is worth it, in my opinion. But if you’re on a tight budget, the Inspire 2 is still a solid choice and will get the job done.
