So, I got myself a Fitbit Charge 5 a while back, pretty neat little gadget. But that always-on display? Kind of a battery hog, and honestly, sometimes I just don’t want the screen glaring at me. I went digging to figure out how to shut the dang thing off when I didn’t need it.
First, I poked around the Fitbit app on my phone. I figured there’d be a simple setting in there, right? Nope. Lots of other options, but nothing about turning off the screen completely.
Then I started swiping and tapping on the Charge 5 itself. I must’ve spent a good ten minutes just messing around with every menu I could find. I felt like a monkey trying to solve a puzzle!
The “Hidden” Menu
Finally, I stumbled upon it. Here’s the trick:
- You gotta swipe down on the main screen, you know, where it shows the time and your stats.
- Keep swiping! You’ll see things like “Do Not Disturb” and “Sleep Mode.”
- Keep going until you see “Settings.” Tap that.
- Now, scroll down a bit more and you’ll find “Display Settings.”
- Tap that, and finally, I see it! It’s the “Screen Wake.”
- Tap ‘Screen Wake’, Change that from “Automatic” to “Manual.”
Now, the screen will only turn on if double tap the screen. No more accidental screen-ons, and more importantly, the battery will last longer.
Honestly, I can’t be the only person struggled with this. It works, and it’s a simple solution that can make a big difference in your Fitbit’s battery life.
