Okay, so I just got a new iPhone 12, and like any sane person, the first thing I did was panic about dropping it. I needed a case, and I needed one fast. But then I remembered, I had a TON of old phone cases lying around from previous phones. I thought, “Maybe one of these will fit?” It was a long shot, but hey, worth trying, right?
The Great Phone Case Hunt Begins!
I started digging through my drawer of old tech stuff. It was like an archaeological dig, unearthing relics of phones past. I found cases for an ancient iPhone 6, a couple of Samsung Galaxy somethings, even a Nokia case from the stone age (okay, maybe not that old, but you get the idea).
First up, the iPhone 6 case. Nope. Way too small. The iPhone 12 just laughed at it.
Next, those Samsung cases. Also a no-go. Different shapes, different sizes, different camera cutouts. It was like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, only…phonier.
I even tried an old iPhone 8 plus case, holding the iPhone 12 and the case together hopfully. Not even close.
The Hard Truth (and Some Basic Research)
After about 30 minutes of fruitless searching, I realized I was being an idiot. It should have been obvious, phones change dimensions, button placements, every year. So I did what I should have done in the first place: I asked google.
Turns out, the dimensions are different. It was not gonna work unless the case was specifically designed for iPhone 12.
Acceptance and a New Case
Finally, I accepted defeat. My old cases were destined to remain in the drawer of forgotten tech. I hopped online and ordered a proper iPhone 12 case. It arrived a couple of days later, and it fit like a glove. Crisis averted.
So, the moral of the story? Don’t be like me. Save yourself the time and effort, and just get the right case for your phone. Your phone (and your sanity) will thank you for it.
