Okay, so the other day I was having this annoying issue with my Fitbit. You know, the heart rate just wouldn’t show up? Super frustrating, right? So, I figured I’d share what I did to fix it, ’cause maybe it’ll help someone else out there.
First, I restarted the darn thing. You know, the classic “turn it off and on again” trick. I held down the button on my Fitbit for like, 10 seconds until it vibrated and the logo popped up. Simple enough.
But, no luck. Still no heart rate. Bummer.
Next Thing Is Check Setting.
So then, I opened up the Fitbit app on my phone. I tapped on my profile picture, then found my device, and went into the settings. I was looking for anything related to heart rate tracking. Make sure that’s actually turned on. Sometimes it gets switched off by accident, you know?
- Check Fitbit App setting.
- Find heart rate.
- Make sure turn ON.
Mine was on, though. So that wasn’t it.
Clean the Sensor
Then I remembered something I read online. Sometimes the sensor on the back of the Fitbit can get gunked up with sweat and dirt, and that can mess with the reading. So, I grabbed a soft, slightly damp cloth (not soaking wet!) and carefully cleaned the back of my Fitbit, where the sensor is. I made sure to dry it off completely afterward.
I put my Fitbit back on, making sure it was snug, but not too tight. You want good contact with your skin, but you don’t want to cut off your circulation!

I also made sure my Fitbit app and the Fitbit itself were both up to date. Sometimes there are software bugs that can cause issues, and updates usually fix them. I went into the app and checked for any available updates, and then I did the same for the Fitbit itself through the app.
And… guess what? It worked! After cleaning the sensor and making sure everything was snug and updated, my heart rate started showing up again. Finally! It was such a relief.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with a non-showing heart rate on my Fitbit. Hopefully, if you’re having the same problem, one of these steps will do the trick for you too!
