Alright, so today I tried out this thing called “Sumplete Daily”. It’s basically a number puzzle, kinda like Sudoku, but with a twist.
I started by opening up the puzzle. I saw a grid of numbers, some filled in, some blank. There were also numbers along the right side and bottom – these are the target sums.
My Strategy (or Lack Thereof)
- First, I looked for the obvious ones. Like, if a row only had one empty square, I figured out what number needed to go there to hit the target sum. Easy peasy.
- Then, I tried to find rows or columns where I could narrow down the possibilities. I used some good old-fashioned trial and error, putting in numbers and seeing if they messed up any other rows or columns.
- There were a few times I got totally stuck. So, I just picked a square and guessed! Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. If it didn’t, I just backtracked and tried a different number.
I spent a good chunk of time, maybe 20 minutes, filling in the squares, erasing my mistakes, and scratching my head. It was definitely a brain workout!
Finally, after a bit of struggling, I managed to fill in all the squares. I double-checked all the rows and columns, and yup, they all added up to the correct sums. Success!
It was a fun little challenge. Not too hard, not too easy. Definitely a good way to kill some time and keep the brain sharp.
