Okay, so I’ve been messing around with these two Garmin watches, the Fenix 8 and the Epix Pro, trying to figure out which one I like better. It’s been a bit of a journey, let me tell you!
First, I unboxed both of them. Gotta love that new gadget smell, right? They both looked pretty slick, but the Epix Pro, with that AMOLED screen, definitely caught my eye first. It just pops, you know?
Next, I strapped them on. The Fenix 8 felt familiar, like my old Fenix 7. Comfortable, solid, no complaints there. The Epix Pro felt… different. Not bad, just different. Maybe a tad lighter? I had to adjust the straps a bit to get them both feeling just right on my wrist.
Then came the fun part – playing with the features! I scrolled through menus, checked out the widgets, and fiddled with the settings. The Epix Pro’s screen was the clear winner here. Everything was just so crisp and vibrant. But the Fenix 8, with its transflective display, was way easier to see in direct sunlight. Trade-offs, trade-offs…
I took them both for a few runs. I started the activity tracking, glanced at the data fields while I was running, and paused them a couple of times to check the maps. Honestly, they both tracked my runs perfectly. GPS was spot on, heart rate seemed accurate, all that good stuff.
Real world test
- The display of the epix pro is amazing.
- fenix 8 is more easy to read when under the sun.
- Battery life,fenix 8 wins!
Battery life is where things got interesting. I charged them both fully before my first run. The Epix Pro, with that fancy screen, definitely drained faster. I mean, it’s expected, right? But the Fenix 8 just kept going and going. After a few days of normal use and a couple of runs, the Fenix 8 was still showing a decent amount of battery, while the Epix Pro was begging for a charger.
So, after all this testing and comparing, what’s my verdict? It’s tough! The Epix Pro’s screen is gorgeous, making it a joy to use indoors and for everyday wear. But the Fenix 8’s longer battery life and better visibility in sunlight make it a more practical choice for my outdoor adventures. It really comes down to what you prioritize. For now, I’m leaning towards the Fenix 8 because I value battery life, even you have sacrifice something.
