Okay, so I wanted to add a custom engraving to a ring. It was a plain band, and I thought it’d be cool to have “NV” stamped on it. Simple, right? Turns out, it took a bit more effort than I initially anticipated!
Getting Started
First, I grabbed the ring. It was just a basic, smooth silver-colored one I picked up a while back. Nothing fancy. Then I needed the tools. Luckily I had some of the tools.
- Metal stamps: I bought a set of letter stamps online. Made sure they were the right size – not too big, not too small.
- Hammer: A regular hammer would work.
- Bench block: This is super important! It’s a solid, flat surface to put the ring on while you’re hammering. It keeps things stable and prevents damage. I found a small steel one.
- Some Tape: I used some masking tape.
The Stamping Process
This is where things got a little tricky. It was my first time doing this, so I definitely made some mistakes along the way.
- First try,I secured the ring to the bench block. I just used some tape.
- Then,I carefully positioned the “N” stamp where I wanted it on the ring.I put it on the place.
- I use hammer to hit it,and the “N” was stamped.
- Then I stamped the “V” on the ring.
It’s harder than it sounds, and it can take a few practice runs to get it right. But it’s a pretty cool way to add a personal touch to jewelry.
