smart living steam mop plus Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

Okay, so I finally caved and bought the Smart Living Steam Mop Plus. I’d been seeing ads for it everywhere, and my old mop was basically falling apart, so I figured, why not? Let’s see how this new thing goes.

Unboxing and First Impressions

The box arrived, and I ripped it open like a kid at Christmas. Inside, everything was packed pretty neatly. I pulled out the main unit, the handle, a couple of microfiber pads, and a little plastic cup for filling the water tank. I also found a carpet glider. Assembling it was surprisingly easy. Basically, I only needed to snap the handle and the mop body together, and that was it.

Getting Down to Business

First things first, I filled the water tank using that little cup. It’s not a huge tank, but it seemed big enough. Then, I attached one of the microfiber pads – it just velcroes on, super simple. I plugged it in, and a little red light came on. After about 20-30 seconds, the light turned green, which I guessed meant it was ready to go.

I started mopping my kitchen floor, which is mostly tile. I must say that the steam made short work of some sticky spots that I’d been ignoring. I pushed the mop back and forth, and it glided pretty effortlessly. The steam came out in a nice, even flow, not too wet, not too dry.

Tackling Different Surfaces

After the kitchen, I moved on to my hardwood floors in the living room. I was a little nervous about using steam on hardwood. So I did small testing area first to ensure it worked well. It seemed fine, so I did the whole room, being careful not to let the mop sit in one spot for too long.

Then, I thought to use the carpet glider! I snapped it onto the bottom of the mop. I only use it to freshen up the carpet area. Because It’s not going to deep clean a carpet, but it did seem to fluff it up a bit and make it smell a little fresher.

Cleaning and Wrap-up

When I was all done, I unplugged the mop and let it cool down. I emptied the water tank, which still had some water left, and peeled off the microfiber pad. The pad was definitely dirty, so I tossed it in the washing machine. It would be cleaned for next use. I like this better than having to wring out a nasty old mop head.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with my new purchase! Hope my sharing has helped you guys!
