Okay, so I’ve been wanting to use my iPad in the kitchen for recipes, but holding it or propping it up on random stuff was getting old, fast. I saw these suction cup mounts online and figured I’d give one a try. It seemed like a simple enough project.
First, I ordered the suction cup mount. I just got a basic one, nothing fancy. It arrived pretty quickly, which was nice.
When I opened the package, it was just the mount – two big suction cups connected by a flexible arm. I checked the suction cups to make sure they were clean, and they looked good to go.
Next, I grabbed my iPad and cleaned the back of it where I planned to attach the mount. I figured any dust or anything might mess with the suction.
Then came the moment of truth. I pressed one of the suction cups onto the back of the iPad, making sure to push down firmly in the center. I heard that satisfying “whoosh” sound as the air got pushed out, so I knew it had a good seal. I did the same with the second suction cup.
- Step 1: Clean the iPad back.
- Step 2: Clean the suction cups.
- Step 3: Press firmly and attach.
I gave the iPad a little shake to make sure it was secure. It felt pretty solid, which was a relief.
I took the whole setup to my kitchen and found a smooth spot on my tiled backsplash. Again, I cleaned the surface first – gotta make sure those suction cups stick!
I pressed the mount against the tiles, pushing down on both suction cups. This time it took a little more effort, but I got that “whoosh” sound again, so I felt pretty confident.
And that was it! I now have my iPad mounted on the wall, ready for me to follow recipes without having to hold it or worry about it falling into a pot of boiling water. I can adjust the flexible arm to get the perfect angle, too.
Final Result
Honestly, it’s a game changer. It’s so much easier to cook now that I can see the recipes clearly. It’s been holding strong for a week now, even with me poking at the screen. Best simple little project I’ve done in a while!
