Okay, so I wanted to make a bootable USB drive with Acronis Disk Director. I’d heard it was good for managing partitions and stuff, and I had a few drives I wanted to mess with. So, I figured I’d give it a shot.
First, I downloaded Acronis Disk Director. I already had it installed it on my computer.
Next, I grabbed a spare USB drive. I think it was 8GB, which I figured was plenty big enough. I plugged it into my computer.
Creating the Bootable Media
I opened Acronis Disk Director, found the “Tools” section, and clicked on “Acronis Bootable Media Builder”. It seemed pretty straightforward.
I chose the “Simple” creation method. I’m not gonna lie, the “Advanced” option looked a little intimidating. I just wanted something that worked.
The program showed me my USB drive, so I selected it. I made sure it was the right one, because I definitely didn’t want to accidentally erase anything important!
It asked me to confirm, I clicked “Proceed,” and it started doing its thing. It took a few minutes, the progress bar slowly inching its way across the screen. I just watched some YouTube videos while it worked.
Once it finished, it gave me a little message saying it was successful. I clicked “OK” and closed out of the program.
Booting from the USB
I restarted my computer, and went into the BIOS *,I need to press DEL, F2, or F12, depends on your computer. Mine is pressing F2.
I found the boot order settings and made sure the USB drive was set as the first boot * the changes and exited the BIOS.
The computer restarted, and this time, instead of booting into Windows, it booted into Acronis Disk Director! It worked! I saw the Acronis interface, and I was ready to start playing around with my partitions.
Mission accomplished! It was easier than I expected, and the whole process took only around maybe 20 minutes, including the download time.
I successfully created a bootable Acronis Disk Director USB and booted from it!
