Okay, so I finally got my hands on a Canon TR8500 printer. I’d been needing a new one for a while, and this one seemed like a good fit for my home office. My old printer was, let’s just say, on its last legs. So, first things first, I unboxed the thing.
Getting it set up
- It was pretty straightforward. Inside, there was the printer, obviously, some ink cartridges, a power cord, and a setup CD.
- I popped the CD into my computer, but then I realized, “Who uses CDs anymore?”
- So I just went to Canon’s website and downloaded the drivers and software from there. Much easier.
The installation process was a breeze. I just followed the on-screen prompts, and it basically did everything for me. I connected it to my Wi-Fi network, which took a couple of tries, not sure why, I may have typed the password wrong at first.
Then, I installed the ink cartridges. They clicked in pretty easily, and the printer did some kind of initialization thing. It took a few minutes, with some whirring and clicking noises.I printed test page after this process was done, just to make sure everything was working.
Printing some stuff
Next, I tried printing a few documents and photos. The quality was pretty good! I mean, it’s not a professional photo printer, but for everyday stuff, it’s more than adequate. And it’s pretty fast, too. The colors are vibrant, and the text is sharp, much better that my old printer.
I also tested the scanner and copier functions. Worked like a charm! Just placed my document on the glass, pressed the button, and boom, done.
I have used it for several weeks. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the Canon TR8500. It’s a solid all-in-one printer that does everything I need it to do. It’s not perfect, I am sure, but for the price, it’s a great value.
