Okay, so I stumbled upon this thing called a “Mattress Genie” and, let me tell you, my curiosity was instantly piqued. Basically, it’s this inflatable thing that goes under your mattress to lift the head of your bed. I’ve been having some issues with, uh, ahem, nighttime digestion, and sleeping slightly elevated is supposed to help. So, I figured, why not give this a shot?
The Hunt Begins
First thing I did was search around to find one. Seems like there are a few different brands out there, but I wanted to see it with my own eyes.
Getting My Hands on It
I finally got one. Unboxing it, it looks pretty simple. It’s basically a big, sturdy air bladder with a hose and a little remote control. I decided to give it a simple try.
Setting It Up
- Step 1: Slid the deflated Mattress Genie under my mattress at the head of the bed. This was easier than I thought it would be, even with my heavy mattress.
- Step 2: Connected the hose to the bladder and the pump, making sure everything was snug. No leaks wanted!
- Step 3: Plugged in the pump and grabbed the remote. Time for the magic!
The Moment of Truth
I pressed the “inflate” button on the remote, and slowly but surely, the head of my bed started to rise. It was kind of cool to watch! I played around with it a bit, raising and lowering it to get a feel for the different levels of elevation. I finally settled on a height that felt comfortable, not too high, not too low, just a gentle incline. Then, I just tested it and had a rest.
My Verdict
I’ve only used it for a few nights so far, but I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. It’s definitely more comfortable than stacking a bunch of pillows, and it feels much more stable. My digestion felt a bit better, but I’ll need more time to really assess that. Overall, I’d say it’s a pretty neat gadget, and it seems to be doing what it’s supposed to do. My nights of propping myself up with a mountain of pillows might just be over!
