Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “privacy” iPhone cases popping up everywhere, and I was like, “Do these things actually work?” I’m kinda paranoid about people looking at my screen, especially on the bus or train. So, I decided to get one and, you know, actually test it out.
First, I went online and looked around. There are tons of these things! Different brands, different prices… it was a bit overwhelming. I finally picked one that seemed decent, not too cheap, not too expensive. I clicked “buy” and waited.
It arrived a few days later. It looked pretty normal, just a regular black case. The “privacy” part is this special screen protector that’s built-in. I snapped it onto my phone – easy peasy.
The Real Test
Now for the fun part. I started by just tilting my phone slightly. Yep, the screen started to darken from the sides. The further I tilted it, the darker it got, until it was completely black from an angle. Pretty cool!
Next, I took it on my usual bus commute. I purposely sat near people and pretended to be super engrossed in my phone (even though I was mostly just watching to see if anyone was looking). I noticed that the people next to me couldn’t really see what I was doing. They’d glance over, but then quickly look away. Success!
I also tested it out in a coffee shop. Same deal. It’s like having a little cone of privacy around my screen.
My Thoughts After a Week
- It definitely works as advertised. People can’t easily see your screen unless they’re directly in front of it.
- It makes the screen a little bit dimmer, even when you’re looking at it straight on. You get used to it, but it’s noticeable at first.
- It adds a tiny bit of thickness to the phone, but nothing major.
- It’s a good way make my phone look new.
- One annoying this is,sometimes when I unlock my phone in the sun,I have to adjust the angle.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with it. It’s not perfect, but it does give me that extra bit of peace of mind, especially in public places. If you’re someone who’s worried about screen peepers, I’d say it’s worth checking out. Just don’t expect it to be a miracle cure – it’s more like a helpful deterrent.
