Alright, let me tell you about my Oakland A’s hoodie project. It was a fun one!

It all started when I was looking for a new hoodie, something comfy but also repping my team. You know, gotta show some love for the Oakland A’s! I looked online, but couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. Everything was either too generic, too expensive, or just… not quite right. So, I thought, “Why not make my own?”

First things first, I needed a plain hoodie. Hit up a local thrift store and snagged a nice, grey, zip-up hoodie for like, five bucks. Score! It was in decent shape, a little faded, but that just added character, right?

Next, the A’s logo. I’m no artist, so freehanding was out of the question. I found a high-res image of the classic A’s logo online. Then, I printed it out on some transfer paper. Made sure to flip the image horizontally, otherwise it’d be backwards when ironed on. Rookie mistake that I almost made!

Now for the tricky part: cutting out the logo. Transfer paper can be a pain. I carefully trimmed around the edges of the logo, leaving a small border. Took my time with this step. You don’t want any jagged edges ruining the final product.

Then, I laid the hoodie flat on my ironing board. Positioned the logo where I wanted it, right in the center of the chest. Made sure it was straight! Used a ruler just to be sure. No one wants a crooked logo.

Time to iron! I cranked up the iron to the hottest setting (cotton, no steam) and pressed down firmly on the transfer paper. Followed the instructions on the paper, moving the iron slowly and evenly across the entire design. This part took a good few minutes. Patience is key!

After letting it cool down for a bit, I peeled off the backing paper. And boom! There it was, the Oakland A’s logo, perfectly transferred onto my hoodie. I was pretty stoked at this point.

But I wasn’t done yet. I wanted to add a little something extra. So, I went back to the thrift store and found an old A’s t-shirt. The colors were a bit faded, but I liked the vintage look. I cut out the sleeves and sewed them onto my hoodie sleeves as stripes. This was probably the hardest part ’cause I’m no seamstress, but I managed to get it done. They were definitely not perfect, but hey, handmade charm, right?

Finally, I used some fabric markers to add a few little details. Wrote “OAKLAND” down one sleeve and “A’s” down the other. Nothing too fancy, just simple lettering.

And that’s it! My custom Oakland A’s hoodie was complete. It’s super comfy, one-of-a-kind, and shows my team pride. Plus, it was way cheaper than buying a new one from the store. It’s not perfect, but that’s what makes it special. Every time I wear it, it reminds me of the fun I had making it.

Would I do it again? Absolutely! Maybe next time I’ll try a different design or add some patches. The possibilities are endless!
