Best Earbuds? Bose QuietComfort Ultra vs Sony LinkBuds XM4.

Alright, so I’ve been messing around with a couple of different earbuds lately – the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and the Sony LinkBuds XM4. Figured I’d jot down my thoughts since I was on the fence about which ones to go with.

First off, I grabbed both of these bad boys online. I started by unboxing the Bose. Pretty sleek packaging, I gotta say. Getting them connected to my phone was a breeze. Didn’t even need to read the instructions, it was just super intuitive. Next, I did the same with the Sonys. A little more fiddling around with the app to get them paired, but nothing too crazy.

I wore the Bose first. Popped ’em in, and wow, the noise cancellation is insane. It’s like the world just disappears. I could barely hear the traffic outside, which is a huge plus for me since I live on a busy street. After that I tested the Sonys, and they’re great, too. Noise cancellation is pretty solid, maybe not as strong as the Bose, but still really good.

Sound-wise, I tested with a bunch of different music, and I think the Bose has a warmer sound, which I kind of dig. I listened to some podcasts, and voices sounded really clear and natural on both. The Sony’s have a few more features. Like, they can do that 360-degree audio thing, which is kind of cool for movies and stuff. The Bose are simpler, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

    Here’s the deal with comfort:

  • Both are pretty comfy for short periods.
  • After a few hours, my ears started to feel a little sore with the Bose.
  • The Sonys were a bit better in that regard. I could wear them for longer stretches without any issues.

I also tested the battery. I charged both pairs fully, then just used them normally throughout the day. The Sonys definitely lasted longer. I got a good 7-8 hours out of them. The Bose were closer to 6 hours. Oh, and the Sonys can charge wirelessly, which is pretty convenient.

I called a couple of friends using both earbuds. They said I sounded clear on both, so no major differences there. I didn’t notice any major connectivity issues with either pair. They both stayed connected to my phone without any dropouts.

So, after using both of these earbuds for a while, I finally decided to stick with the Sonys. They’re just a bit more versatile, and I like all the extra features. Plus, they’re a tad more comfortable for long listening sessions, and the battery life is better. But honestly, if you want the absolute best noise cancellation, the Bose are the way to go. They’re also a little cheaper, so that’s something to consider. It really comes down to what you’re looking for in a pair of earbuds.

Hope this helps anyone else who’s trying to decide between these two! Let me know if you have any questions, I’d be happy to share my thoughts.
