Okay, so, I started this whole fitness journey, you know, trying to get in shape and feel better. I used MyFitnessPal to track my food intake and set a calorie goal. And I thought it was cool that the app could also track my workouts, so I connected it to my Apple Watch.
But here’s where things went sideways. I started noticing that after I worked out, MyFitnessPal was adding calories back to my daily goal. Like, I burned 300 calories on a run, and suddenly I could eat 300 more calories that day. It felt a bit off, and I wasn’t really sure what to do. I mean, I was trying to be in a calorie deficit to lose some weight, and this just messed up the whole plan.
I dug a bit deeper into the app’s settings and found out it was doing something called “calorie adjustments.” Apparently, MyFitnessPal was trying to be helpful by giving me more calories to eat based on my workouts. But for me, it wasn’t helpful at all.
I did some research and found out that many fitness trackers and apps aren’t always accurate when it comes to calculating calories burned during exercise. Sometimes they overestimate, sometimes they underestimate, but rarely are they perfectly precise. It just seemed a bit risky to rely on those numbers completely.
So I decided to turn off the calorie adjustments. I figured it’s better to stick to my original calorie goal and not get thrown off by these workout bonuses.
Here’s what I did:
- I opened the MyFitnessPal app.
- I tapped on “More.”
- Then I went to “Settings.”
- Then I selected “Diary Settings.”
- I found the “Exercise Calories” setting and toggled it off.
That’s it! Now, MyFitnessPal only focuses on my food intake and doesn’t mess with my calorie goal based on my workouts.
And you know what? It’s been working great for me. I feel more in control of my calorie intake, and I’m not worried about accidentally eating too much because of some inaccurate workout data. It’s a much simpler and more reliable way to manage my diet and exercise.
So, if you’re using MyFitnessPal and trying to lose or maintain weight, I’d recommend giving this a try. It might just make things a whole lot easier and more effective for you, too.
This approach is working for me now, I finally achieved my goal!
