Okay, so, the other day I was thinking about that movie, “The Duchess”, you know, the one with Keira Knightley? I really dig that film, especially the costumes and all that drama. So, I thought, “Why not find more movies like it?”
First, I hit up Google. Just typed in “movies like The Duchess”. Right away, I got a ton of lists. Seems like a lot of people have the same idea! I started clicking around, and boy, there are so many movies out there that give off the same vibe. Historical dramas, period pieces, you name it.
Then, I remembered a website called Letterboxd. I’ve used it before to keep track of movies I’ve watched. Turns out, they have a whole section on movies similar to “The Duchess.” There are 70 films, yeah, 70! I jotted down a few that caught my eye, like “Emma” (the 2020 one) and “A Royal Affair.”
- Emma (2020)
- A Royal Affair
- Marie Antoinette
I also stumbled upon this other site called Filmaffinity. It’s like a place where you can rate movies and get recommendations. They had some interesting suggestions too, though some of the titles were in Spanish, which I don’t really speak.
After that, I spent some time browsing through articles and blogs. One article talked about a movie called “The Favourite.” It sounds a bit different, but it’s also about royal courts and rivalries, so I added it to my list.
I also checked out some streaming sites like Netflix and Hulu, just to see what was easily available. There are a lot of shows that seem similar, too, especially if you’re into that whole historical drama thing. I even found a list of movies like “The Princess Diaries” – not exactly the same, but there’s still that royalty connection.
Anyway, I ended up with a pretty long list of movies and shows to check out. It’s going to take me a while to get through them all, but I’m excited to dive in. Who knew there were so many movies out there about royal life, scandals, and fancy dresses?
My Watchlist

- Anna Karenina
- Jane Eyre
It was a fun little research project, and now I have plenty of viewing material for the next few weeks. If you’re into “The Duchess,” you should definitely do a little digging yourself. You might be surprised at what you find!
