Today, I went to Michaels to pick up some craft supplies, and I was wondering if I could use Apple Pay to check out. I usually use my phone to pay for things since it’s super convenient, so I figured I’d give it a shot.
When I got to the store, I grabbed a basket and started looking around. I found some yarn for a knitting project I’m working on, and I also picked up some paintbrushes and a canvas for a painting I want to do. After about half an hour of browsing, I headed to the checkout line.
There were a few people ahead of me, so I waited my turn. While I was waiting, I pulled out my phone and opened the Wallet app to make sure my Apple Pay was set up. Everything looked good, so I just chatted with the lady in front of me until it was my turn.
When I got to the register, I told the cashier I wanted to pay with Apple Pay. She said, “Sure, no problem,” and pointed to the payment terminal. I double-clicked the side button on my iPhone, authenticated with Face ID, and then held my phone near the terminal.
The Moment of Truth
- I heard the familiar “ding” sound, and the terminal displayed a message saying the payment was approved.
- The cashier handed me my receipt, and I was good to go.
So, there you have it! Michaels does indeed accept Apple Pay. It was a smooth and easy process, just like using Apple Pay at other stores. I’m glad I didn’t have to fumble around for my wallet. Using my phone to pay is just so much easier and quicker. I will definitely use Apple Pay there again.
