Okay, so, I recently got a new iPhone 12, and, like anyone who just got a new phone, I went straight into “protect this thing at all costs” mode. I needed a case, and fast. But then I remembered I had a bunch of old phone cases lying around from my previous iPhones. I thought, “Maybe one of these will fit?” So began my little experiment.
First, I grabbed a case from my old iPhone 7. Nope. Way too small. The iPhone 12 is significantly bigger. Okay, moving on.
Next up, I tried an iPhone X case. This one was closer, but still no cigar. The camera cutouts were all wrong, and it just didn’t snap on right. I even tried to force it a bit, but I didn’t want to scratch my new phone. Feeling a little discouraged.
Then I remembered I had a case for my iPhone 11. Now, this one seemed promising. The size was pretty similar, and it actually kind of fit. But there were a couple of problems. The buttons didn’t quite line up, and the camera cutout was a little off. It would technically work, but it wasn’t perfect, and I’m a perfectionist with my phones, haha.
At this point, I was starting to think I’d have to bite the bullet and just buy a new case. But then I remembered something. One of my friends also had an iPhone 12, she just got it, and she’s always bragging about having the best phone cases.
I gave her a call, and we met up at a coffee shop. She had like five different iPhone 12 cases with her. She’s extra, I know. We tried them all on my phone, just to see what the fit was like and compare the styles. Some were too flashy for me, but I ended up really liking this one simple, clear case she had.
It fit like a glove. All the buttons were perfect, the camera cutout was spot on, and it even had a little raised edge to protect the screen. Plus, it didn’t add a lot of bulk to the phone. Bingo! She let me have that one and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s still holding up great, no scratches or anything.
My takeaways from this whole thing:
- Don’t assume your old iPhone cases will fit your iPhone 12. Even if the size seems similar, the button and camera placements can be different.
- Don’t force a case that doesn’t fit right. You could end up damaging your phone.
- If you’re not sure what case to get, ask a friend who has the same phone. They might have some good recommendations or even an extra case they can give you. Worked for me!
- There are a ton of different iPhone 12 cases out there, so you’re sure to find one that fits your style and needs. Just look around.
So, yeah, that’s my story about finding the right case for my iPhone 12. It was a bit of a journey, but I’m happy with the case I ended up with. Now I can finally relax and enjoy my new phone without worrying about dropping it.
