Okay, so I was digging around for movies similar to “Chicago” the other day. You know, that musical with all the jazz and razzle-dazzle.
First, I typed “films like Chicago” into the good old search bar. I scrolled through a bunch of lists, but nothing really caught my eye. Most of them were just generic “best musicals” lists, and I wanted something with that same dark, jazzy vibe as “Chicago.”
Then, I decided to get a little more specific. I started looking up things like “musicals with murder” and “films set in the 1920s.” This led me down a bit of a rabbit hole, and I ended up finding some interesting stuff, though not exactly what I was looking for.
After that, I figured I’d try a different approach. I went to some of my favorite movie forums and asked around for recommendations. This was actually pretty helpful. A few people suggested “Cabaret,” which I’ve seen and loved, but it still wasn’t quite hitting the mark.
I spent a good few hours on this, honestly. Clicking around, reading reviews, watching trailers. It’s kind of a blur, to be honest. But I did stumble upon a few films that seemed somewhat promising, based on their descriptions. Some have a simlar storyline with a musical vibe.
My findings are as follows:
- Love(2015) – This one looks really intense, It’s a French film by a director named Gaspar No. It seems to be about a passionate and probably messy relationship between these two characters, Murphy and Electra, in Paris. I saw some comments online saying it’s pretty explicit, but also that it’s some of the director’s most personal work. Seems interesting.
- Where to watch – I also found some info on where to watch “Love”. Seems like it’s on Sky Store, and maybe some other streaming services too. I also saw something about a phone ringing on a January morning and someone named Omi. Maybe Murphy’s wife?
- Other tidbits – There was a lot of French stuff that popped up. I don’t know French, but it seems like there’s some buzz around this movie. Someone was talking about “humorless young man in lust” and another was “very worried.” Sounds dramatic.
So, yeah, that’s where I’m at now. I might check out “Love”, even though I haven’t found a musical like “Chicago” yet. I just wanted to share my little adventure in movie hunting. It’s always fun to dig around and see what you can find, even if you don’t end up exactly where you expected.
