Tic Watch Earbuds vs. the Competition: Which is Better for You?

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with these TicWatch earbuds for a while now, and I gotta say, it’s been a bit of a journey. I’m a bit of a watch guy and I have a bunch of smartwatches, so when I saw these, I was like, “Gotta check ’em out!”

First off, I did some digging. Turns out, these earbuds are made by a company called Mobvoi. Never heard of ’em before, but hey, who hasn’t? They make a bunch of different TicWatch models – Pro, E2, S2, C2, Atlas and even a new one called Pro 5 Enduro. This is the first time I know they have earbuds.

So, I went ahead and ordered a pair, cause why not? The price tag was $349.99. A bit steep, yeah, but I’ve spent more on dumber things, I’m sure. I just bought it without comparing it to other products. You know me, just buy it and done. They arrived pretty quick, and I ripped open the box like a kid on Christmas.

First impression? They look pretty slick. Kinda futuristic, but not in a cheesy way. I started fiddling with them, trying to figure out how they work. That is, paired them up with my phone. I tried it with my iPhone first, but I quickly found out these only work with Android phones. They just won’t connect with Apple. Bummer. So, I grabbed my old Samsung, charged it up, and tried again.

  • Pairing: This part was actually smooth. Found the earbuds in my Bluetooth settings, tapped connect, and bam, we’re in business.
  • Wearing ’em: They’re comfy enough. They come with different sized tips, so I swapped them out until I found a good fit.
  • Using ’em: This is where things got interesting. There’s this rotating crown thingy on the watch that you can use to navigate around. It’s kinda neat, makes things feel less fiddly. Plus, there’s a dual display, which is supposed to be some big-deal, but honestly, I haven’t figured out what’s so great about it yet. There’s also this W5 Plus Gen 1 chip inside. I have no clue what it is, but I guess it makes the watch run faster or something.

I started using them for my workouts and on my commute. That’s how I usually use earbuds. The sound quality is decent. It is not mind-blowing, but it’s not trash either. I’ve definitely heard better, but I’ve also heard way worse. Battery life is okay. That’s it. Okay.

My Final Thoughts

Overall, I’d say the TicWatch earbuds are… alright. They’re not amazing, but they’re not terrible. I think they are a good match for Android users who are already into the whole TicWatch ecosystem. Would I recommend them to everyone? Probably not. There are a bunch of other earbuds out there that are cheaper and just as good, if not better. But hey, if you’re feeling adventurous and have some cash to burn, you do you. I will keep messing with them and see if I discover anything cool. Who knows, maybe they’ll grow on me.
