Alright, so I’ve been diving deep into this “Making a Murderer” thing, specifically about Brendan Dassey. Man, what a rollercoaster of emotions that series is. It all started when I stumbled upon this Netflix show one lazy Sunday afternoon. I got hooked, like, instantly.

First off, I started by watching the entire “Making a Murderer” series. This gave me the full backstory, you know? It’s insane how much this case has blown up. Then, I dug into articles and updates about Brendan Dassey.

It seems like everyone’s talking about how Brendan, who was just a teenager at the time, confessed to some heavy stuff. His uncle, Steven Avery, is also a big part of this whole mess. The whole thing is just wild. I found some people talking about how Avery sued for $36 million after a rape conviction he was in for got overturned, which is crazy money if you think about it. And now, both Avery and Dassey have new lawyers.

Then I started to find articles, reading about how a federal judge overturned Brendan’s conviction. A federal judge! That’s a big deal. And it happened in Milwaukee, of all places. It was mentioned his confession, as shown in the Netflix series, was a major focus. I mean, he was sentenced to life in prison and now, bam, the conviction is overturned. It’s nuts.

Here’s where it gets even crazier: I found out that Wisconsin’s Attorney General, some guy named Brad Schimel, appealed the decision to overturn the conviction. So even though a judge said Brendan’s conviction was overturned, they’re still fighting it.

My steps during this whole deep-dive were pretty straightforward:

  • Watched the “Making a Murderer” series on Netflix.
  • Read a bunch of online articles about Brendan Dassey and Steven Avery.
  • Looked up info about the federal judge overturning the conviction.
  • Found out about the appeal from Wisconsin’s Attorney General.

This whole thing has been a wild ride. It makes you question a lot about the justice system, you know? I just wanted to share this journey with you all because it’s been on my mind non-stop. It’s one of those things you just can’t shake off.

Oh, and here’s the kicker: I ended up spending way more time reading about legal stuff than I ever thought I would. It’s like, one minute you’re watching a show, and the next you’re practically a legal expert, or at least you feel like one. Who knew true crime could be so… educational?

I just had to get this out there and share my deep dive into the Brendan Dassey case. It’s been a trip, and I’m still not over it.
