Firestick Wont Boot Up: Troubleshooting Guide for Beginners

So, the other day, I ran into a bit of a snag with my Firestick. It just wouldn’t boot up. No logo, no nothing. Just a black screen staring back at me. I was like, “Seriously? Now?” I was really looking forward to binge-watching my favorite show that evening. Of course, I wasn’t going to just give up without a fight.

First things first, I did the classic move – unplugged everything. Power cord from the Firestick, Firestick from the TV, everything out. Waited for a good minute, you know, to let all the residual power drain out or whatever. Then, I plugged it all back in, held my breath, and hit the power button. Still nothing. Just that darn black screen.

Okay, no need to panic. Maybe it’s the HDMI port acting up. I switched the Firestick to a different HDMI port on my TV. Nada. Still black. At this point, I started feeling a little worried, I won’t lie.

  • I checked the power source next. Made sure the outlet was working by plugging in my phone charger. Phone was charging, so the outlet was fine.
  • Then, I tried a different power adapter for the Firestick. I had a spare one lying around from an old tablet. Plugged that bad boy in, and… nothing.

By now, I was getting a little frustrated. My evening plans were going down the drain! I decided to take a break and have some coffee so I will not get more upset. After coming back, I grabbed the Firestick remote. Maybe, just maybe, there was some weird button combination that could wake it up. I pressed and held a bunch of different buttons, like the home button, the back button, even the volume buttons. You name it, I pressed it. Still nothing.

After all of that, I realized that it might be the power supply or something internal within my Firestick was dead. That is sad news for me, I have to look for a new one then.

So there you have it. My Firestick’s been acting up, and it’s a total bummer. Guess I’ll be spending my evening reading a book instead. I did some digging online, and it looks like I might have to get a new one. But hey, at least I tried everything I could, right?
