Best Button Camera to Buy? (Top Picks for You)

Okay, so, let me tell you about this little project I tried to do the other day. It was about making a button that can take pictures, sort of like a hidden camera thing. I thought it would be cool. I’ve always been interested in tinkering with gadgets, you know?

First off, I went online to look for some parts. I needed a tiny camera, a small button, a power source, and something to store the photos. After browsing for a while, I found some components that seemed to fit the bill. Nothing fancy, just basic stuff that wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg.

When the parts arrived, I was excited to get started. I cleared my desk and laid everything out. The camera was super small, smaller than I expected, actually. The button was just a regular shirt button, but I figured I could modify it. The first thing I did was test the camera to see if it worked. I hooked it up to my computer, and after a bit of fiddling with drivers, it was showing a picture! A bit grainy, but hey, it’s a tiny camera.

Next, I had to figure out how to attach the camera to the button. This was tricky. I carefully drilled a small hole in the button, just big enough for the camera lens to peek through. Then, I used some strong glue to secure the camera behind the button. It took a while to dry, and I had to be super careful not to smudge the lens.

Once the glue was set, I started working on the wiring. This was the hardest part for me. I’m not a pro at electronics, so I had to follow some online guides very closely. I connected the camera to a small battery and then added a switch so I could turn it on and off. I also added a tiny SD card slot for storing the pictures.

  • Drilling the button:

I had to make a tiny hole in the button for the camera lens.

  • Gluing:

Secured the camera to the back of the button with strong glue.

  • Wiring:

Connected the camera, battery, switch, and SD card slot.

After a lot of trial and error, and a few sparks here and there (oops), I finally had everything connected. I put the whole thing into a small casing I made from an old plastic container. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked. I tested it out by wearing the button on my shirt and walking around the house. I pressed the button a few times, and when I checked the SD card later, there were the photos! They were a bit blurry and the angle wasn’t always great, but it worked!

The Result

I managed to make a button camera! It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot about electronics and how to solder properly. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start. Maybe I’ll try to improve it later, make it smaller, and with a better camera. Who knows! For now, I’m pretty happy with what I achieved.
