Okay, so I’ve been meaning to upgrade the screen protector on my iPad for a while now. The old one was scratched up, and honestly, it was just… gross. I kept seeing people talk about ESR screen protectors, so I figured I’d give them a shot.
The Hunt Begins
First things first, I needed to find the right one. There are so many options! I have an iPad Air (the 5th generation, if you’re curious), so I made sure to filter my search for that specific model. You don’t wanna end up with a protector that’s too big or too small, trust me, I have done similar wrong things before.
Choosing the Right One
After a bit of browsing, I decided to go with their “Paper-Feel” screen protector. I do a lot of note-taking and drawing on my iPad, and the idea of having a bit more texture sounded appealing. Plus, I saw some reviews that said it helped reduce glare, which is a big win in my brightly lit apartment.
The Installation Process (aka Operation: Steady Hands)
This is always the part that makes me a little nervous. I’m not exactly known for my precision. The package came with everything I needed: the screen protector (obviously), a cleaning cloth, a dust removal sticker, and a little squeegee thing.
- Step 1: Clean, Clean, Clean! I used the included cloth to wipe down my iPad screen, making sure to get rid of any fingerprints or smudges.
- Step 2: Dust Removal. This little sticker is a lifesaver. I dabbed it all over the screen to pick up any tiny dust particles that might have been lurking.
- Step 3: The Alignment Game. This is where things get real. I carefully peeled off the backing of the screen protector, trying not to touch the adhesive side. ESR includes this little frame to help you line it up, which was surprisingly helpful.
- Step 4: The Squeegee. Once I had the protector in place, I used the squeegee to push out any air bubbles. I started from the center and worked my way out to the edges.
The Result
It maybe took a couple of tries to get it perfect, but eventually. And let me tell you, it’s a world of difference! The screen protector feels great under my Apple Pencil – it really does have that slight “paper” texture. It’s not too rough, but it provides just enough resistance to make drawing and writing feel more natural. And the glare? Definitely reduced. I can actually use my iPad outside on a sunny day without squinting!
Overall, I’m super happy with this ESR screen protector. It was pretty easy to install (even for a klutz like me), and it makes using my iPad so much more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a new screen protector, I’d definitely recommend checking them out. Just make sure you double-check the compatibility with your specific device!
