Okay, so I’ve been on this huge binge-watching kick lately, right? And it all started with “The Originals.” Man, that show had me hooked from the first episode. Vampires, witches, werewolves, all that supernatural drama – I was totally in. But then, like all good things, it ended. And I was left with this void, you know? Like, what do I watch now?
So, I started digging around, trying to find something that could fill that “Originals”-shaped hole in my heart. I mean, I needed more of that dark, supernatural vibe, with complex characters and twisted family drama. It is not easy to find similar TV shows like “The Originals”.
First, I tried to find similar shows on the Internet. I typed some keywords and waited for the search result to show me something good.
Tried A Few, Didn’t Quite Hit the Spot
- Riverdale: I gave “Riverdale” a shot. I’ve heard some of my friends talking about it. They said it’s a dark and mysterious show. It had that dark, moody vibe, which was cool, but it was more about teen angst and small-town secrets. Not bad, but it was missing that supernatural element that I craved. It just wasn’t doing it for me.
- Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Then I checked out “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” Witches, demons, that kind of stuff – sounded promising. And it was pretty good, don’t get me wrong. But it felt a bit too, I don’t know, “young” for me? Like, it was more focused on the teenage witch coming-of-age story, and I was looking for something with a bit more bite.
Finally Struck Gold
But then, I stumbled upon “True Blood.” Oh boy, this was it! Vampires living among humans, political intrigue, steamy romance, and some seriously messed-up characters. It’s based on these books called “The Southern Vampire Mysteries,” and let me tell you, they nailed the adaptation.
What I loved most about “True Blood” was how each character represented a different part of society. You had your powerful vampires, your regular folks caught in the middle, and all these other supernatural creatures trying to find their place. It’s like a social commentary wrapped in a vampire drama.
I also tried to find more TV series that were made up of The Vampire Diaries franchise. Fortunately, I found “The Vampire Diaries”, and “The Originals”. I have already watched “The Originals” before. So, I started to watch “The Vampire Diaries”. It was not bad.
So yeah, that’s been my TV-watching journey lately. From “The Originals” to a bunch of other shows, and finally landing on “True Blood” and “The Vampire Diaries”. If you’re into that whole supernatural drama thing, definitely give them a try. You won’t regret it!
