Okay, here’s my blog post about getting a second-hand 2015 MacBook Air:
My Journey with a Used 2015 MacBook Air
So, I’ve been needing a laptop for, like, basic stuff. You know, writing, browsing, maybe watching some videos. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money, and my friend was like, “Dude, just get an old MacBook.” I was skeptical, but hey, I’m all about saving some cash.
I started looking around, checking out some online marketplaces. Found a 2015 MacBook Air that seemed pretty decent. The seller said it was in “good condition,” which, you know, could mean anything. But the price was right, so I decided to go for it.
I met up with the seller, and honestly, the laptop looked pretty good. A few minor scratches, but nothing major. First thing I did was check the battery cycle count. It was a little high, but still within a reasonable range. I figured I could always replace the battery later if I needed to.
- Checked the outside for major dents or damage.
- Opened it up and checked the screen for dead pixels or weird colors.
- Made sure all the ports (USB, Thunderbolt, etc.) worked.
I booted it up, and it seemed to run fine. It had macOS Big Sur installed. I messed around with it for a bit, opening some apps, browsing the web – you know, the usual stuff. Everything seemed pretty snappy. I mean, it’s not a brand-new machine, but it definitely felt usable.
After bring it home. I spend one afternoon to clean install the macOS. It’s simple, hold the Command+R, and follow the screen introduction.
So far, so good! I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and I’m actually really happy with it. I mostly use it for writing, email, and some light web browsing, and it handles everything perfectly. I even installed some basic coding tools, and it runs those just fine, too!
For the price, I think it’s a fantastic little machine. It’s lightweight, portable, and gets the job done.
If you’re on a budget and need a laptop for everyday tasks, I’d definitely recommend considering a used MacBook Air. Just make sure to do your homework and inspect it carefully before you buy!
