Alright, so yesterday I finally got around to canceling my SimpliSafe subscription. Been putting it off for ages, you know how it is. Figured I’d jot down how it went, ’cause their website makes it kinda tricky.
First thing I did was hop onto their website, logged in, and started poking around. I was expecting to find a big “CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION” button somewhere obvious, but of course, no such luck. I spent a good 15 minutes clicking through every single tab – account settings, billing, devices – the whole shebang. Nothing. Seriously frustrating.
Then, I remembered reading something about having to actually call them. Ugh. Phone calls are the worst, right? But whatever, gotta do what you gotta do. So, I braced myself, Googled “SimpliSafe customer service number,” and dialed.
Got through to a person pretty quickly, which was a surprise. I told the guy straight up I wanted to cancel my monitoring service. He didn’t give me too much of a hard time, surprisingly. He asked why I was canceling, and I just said I was moving and wouldn’t need it anymore. Kept it simple.
Then came the upselling part. He started going on about how great SimpliSafe is, how secure it keeps your home, blah blah blah. I just politely but firmly said, “No thanks, I’m still canceling.” He tried to offer me a discount, a free month, all that jazz. I kept repeating myself, “I just want to cancel.” Eventually, he got the message.
He put me on hold for a minute to “process” the cancellation. When he came back, he confirmed that my monitoring service was canceled, effective immediately. He also gave me a cancellation confirmation number, which I wrote down just in case.
After the call, I got an email confirming the cancellation, which was good. I double-checked my account online, and yup, the monitoring service was indeed gone. Finally!
So, the takeaway? If you want to cancel SimpliSafe, don’t waste your time looking for a button online. Just call them. Be prepared for the sales pitch, and just stick to your guns. It’s a bit of a hassle, but not the end of the world. Glad that’s over with.
