Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this thing called the Cel-Fi GO X. Basically, it’s supposed to boost your cell signal, which, let me tell you, is a lifesaver in my neck of the woods. Reception out here is spotty at best.
Getting Started
First things first, I unboxed the whole kit. It came with the main unit, a donor antenna (that’s the one that goes outside), a server antenna (for inside), and a bunch of cables and mounting hardware. I’m not gonna lie, it looked a little intimidating at first, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought.
The Install
The biggest part was figuring out where to put the donor antenna. I spent a good hour walking around my property, holding the thing up in the air like a crazy person, trying to find the best signal. My phone’s signal bars were my best friend during this part.
- Climbed on the roof. (Safety first, kids!)
- Tried mounting it on a pole.
- Moved it around several times.
Once I found a decent spot, I mounted the donor antenna. Then, I ran the cable inside to where I planned to put the Cel-Fi GO X unit itself. I picked a central location in my house, hoping to get the best coverage.
Next, I connected the server antenna to the unit. This one was easy – it just screwed on. Finally, I plugged everything in and flipped the switch.
Did it Work?
At first, nothing. I panicked a little, thinking I’d messed something up. But then, after a few minutes, I started seeing more bars on my phone. And not just a little bit more – a LOT more! I went from barely getting one bar to having a full, solid signal.
I tested it out by making some calls and browsing the internet. Everything was working perfectly! No more dropped calls or buffering videos. It was like night and day.
Honestly, it felt like magic. I’m still kind of amazed that this little box can make such a huge difference. It’s definitely worth the investment if you’re struggling with poor cell service.
