Okay, so this week I decided to dive into something completely new – I called it my “Apple Week.” The idea was simple: to try and incorporate as many Apple products and services into my daily routine as possible. I’m usually more of a mixed-bag tech user, so this was a real experiment for me.
Getting Started
First things first, I dusted off my old MacBook Air. It’s been sitting in a drawer for a while, so I spent a good chunk of Monday morning just updating everything. You know how it is – software updates, app updates… it took forever! Then, I made sure my iPhone and iPad were fully charged and ready to go.
The Daily Grind
- Waking Up: Instead of my usual alarm, I started using the “Sleep” feature on my iPhone. It’s actually pretty neat, with gentle wake-up sounds and all that.
- Morning News: I switched from my regular news apps to Apple News+. I gotta say, the layout is clean, and I found some interesting articles I wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
- Workday: This was the biggest change. I forced myself to use Pages, Numbers, and Keynote instead of my usual Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. It was a bit of a learning curve, especially with Numbers, but I managed to get my work done.
- Communication: I relied heavily on iMessage and FaceTime to keep in touch with my family and friends. It was nice to have everything integrated, but I did miss some of the features of other messaging apps.
- Entertainment: I explored Apple Music and Apple TV+. The music selection is vast, and I discovered some new artists. I also watched a couple of shows on Apple TV+ – “Ted Lasso” is as good as everyone says!
- Fitness: Use Apple Watch to record my daily exercise.
The Verdict
By the end of the week, I was surprisingly comfortable in the Apple ecosystem. It’s definitely more streamlined than my usual setup, and I appreciated how well everything worked together. Did I completely convert? Not entirely. There are still some things I prefer about my old setup, but I definitely gained a new appreciation for Apple’s products and services. It was a fun experiment, and I might even keep some of these new habits going forward!
