Cheap Phone Headrest Holder Review: Are They Worth Buying?

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get one of those phone holders for the car headrest for a while, you know, for the kids on long trips. Finally got around to it, and figured I’d share the whole, uh, thrilling experience.

The Hunt Begins

First, I spent like, an hour just scrolling through options. There are SO MANY. It’s ridiculous. I needed something sturdy, because, well, kids. And I didn’t want some flimsy thing that would break after a week.

Narrowing it Down

I focused on ones that specifically mentioned “tablet” and “headrest” in the description. Figured those would be the most likely to fit and, you know, actually hold the thing up. I read a bunch of reviews, some good, some… not so good. Lots of complaints about things being too loose or too hard to adjust.

The Chosen One

Finally, I picked one that seemed pretty middle-of-the-road. Decent reviews, not the cheapest, not the most expensive. It had these clamp things that looked like they’d grip the headrest posts pretty well.

Installation “Fun”

So, it arrived. The box was… smaller than I expected. Always a little concerning. I opened it up, and it was basically just the holder and a couple of those clamp things. No instructions, of course. Why would there be instructions?

I fiddled with it for a bit, trying to figure out how the clamps worked. They were spring-loaded, which was good, but also kind of a pain to get open wide enough to fit around the headrest posts. I managed to get one side on, then struggled for like, five minutes to get the other side. My fingers were definitely feeling it.

  • Finally got it attached. It is important.

The Test Run

Once it was on, I put my old tablet in it. Seemed pretty secure! I gave it a good shake, and it didn’t budge. Success! The kids haven’t used it on a long trip yet, but I’m pretty confident it’ll hold up. At least, I hope so. Otherwise, it’s back to the drawing board (and more online scrolling… ugh).

All done and my child can enjoy it!
