Okay, so here’s the deal. I was working on my website the other day, just minding my own business, when suddenly I noticed something was off. My site was not getting any traffic. Like, none at all. It was a ghost town. I started freaking out a little, thinking, “What did I do?”
First, I checked all the usual stuff. You know, making sure the website was actually up and running, checking my analytics, all that jazz. Everything seemed to be in order on my end, but still, no visitors. So, I started digging deeper. I remembered hearing about something called “blacklisting.” Basically, it’s when these security companies decide your website is bad news and block people from accessing it. And then I thought, could this be a Heimdal thing? I’d heard they have some kind of DNS security thing that can block sites.
Checking for a Blacklist
So, like anyone in my shoes, I started to google this. It looks like you can enter your website’s URL into these tools, and they tell you if you’re on any blacklists. There are a bunch of them out there, each with its own way of checking if your site is flagged as malicious or spammy or whatever.

I started with a simple search for “website blacklist checker” and found a whole bunch of options. Some were free, some were paid, but all of them basically did the same thing.

I plugged my site’s URL into a few of these checkers, held my breath, and waited for the results.
The Heimdal Test
Then I stumbled upon this website. It says it’s used to test if Heimdal is working on your system. The idea is, if you can reach this test page, then Heimdal is not blocking you. But if you can’t, well, then you might be in trouble.
And that’s when I found out that this website could not be reached. I started to freak out a little, thinking, “I’m blacklisted!”
So, I went to the Heimdal dashboard, looked under “Network Settings,” then “DNS Security.” It seems like you can check your website’s status there and see if it’s being blocked.
After a bit of panic and a lot of clicking around, I finally figured out what was going on. Turns out, it wasn’t a blacklist issue after all. It was just a little hiccup with my DNS settings. I made a few tweaks, cleared my cache, and waited. After a little while, everything went back to normal. My website was back online, people could visit it again, and I could finally breathe a sigh of relief. So, yeah, it wasn’t a blacklist thing, thank goodness. Just a little DNS hiccup. But man, it sure did give me a scare!
