Alright, so I wanted to stream my PC games to my TV. I’d heard of Moonlight and Chromecast, and figured I’d give it a shot. Figured it couldn’t be that hard, right?
First, I made sure my PC was all set up. That meant having an NVIDIA GeForce GTX/RTX graphics card (which I already did) and the GeForce Experience software installed. I opened up GeForce Experience, went into the settings, and found the “SHIELD” tab. I had to flick the switch for “GameStream” to turn it on.
Next up, the Chromecast. I grabbed my phone and made sure it was on the same Wi-Fi network as the Chromecast. Then I needed to install the Moonlight app. I went to the Google Play Store, searched for “Moonlight Game Streaming”, and installed it. Easy peasy.
I opened up Moonlight on my phone. It started scanning for computers on my network. After a few seconds, my PC popped up. I tapped on it, and then my PC showed a PIN code. I typed that PIN into the Moonlight app on my phone.
Boom! I see a list of game from my pc, then I click one of the game, it start to run. so far so good
Then I get the Moonlight app from chromecast by searching, and install it.
open the Moonlight on chromecast, get paring code, and type paring code to my PC.
After a short moment, The game is playing on my TV. I can use gamepad that connected to chromecast.
It took a bit of fiddling to get everything connected. It’s pretty cool to play my PC games on the big screen, all thanks to a little bit of tech magic with Moonlight and Chromecast.
