Okay, so I recently got these new clear bumper protectors for my car, and let me tell you, the whole process was… an experience. I wanted to share it, because honestly, it wasn’t as straightforward as I thought it’d be.
First, I unboxed everything. It came with the protectors themselves, some alcohol wipes, and a tiny little squeegee. I’m not gonna lie, I felt a bit like I was about to perform surgery on my car.
Preparation
The instructions emphasized cleaning the bumper area really well. So, I grabbed my car wash soap and went to town. I scrubbed that bumper until it was sparkling, probably cleaner than it’s been since I bought the car. Then, I dried it off completely with a microfiber towel.
- Washed the bumper with soap and water.
- Dried it thoroughly.
- Used the included alcohol wipes to get rid of any remaining residue. I wiped it down like three times, just to be sure.
Application
This is where things got a little tricky.
I peeled off the backing of the protector, trying to be super careful not to touch the sticky side. I mean I am the one who have finger prints on everything. Then, I lined it up with the edge of my bumper, which was harder than it sounds. My hands were shaking a little bit.
Once I had it in place, I pressed down on one end and started smoothing it out with the squeegee. This is supposed to get rid of any air bubbles. I pushed and pushed, and I thought I got most of them, but a few tiny ones remained. I’m just accepting that it’s not going to be 100% perfect.
Finishing Up
After I got both protectors on, I stood back and admired my handiwork. It looked pretty good, even with the tiny bubbles. It definitely gave my bumper some extra protection, which is what I wanted.
Overall, I’d say it was a relatively easy process, even though it took a bit of patience and a steady hand. I’m happy with how it turned out, and hopefully, these protectors will keep my bumper looking good for a while. I mean, I’m just the person who always park a little too close to things.
