Okay, so I’ve been on the hunt for a new running watch, and I narrowed it down to the Garmin 265 and the 265s. The big question was: which size is right for me?
First, I measured my wrist. I grabbed a flexible measuring tape (the kind you use for sewing) and wrapped it around my wrist, right where I’d wear a watch. I made sure it was snug, but not too tight. Turns out, my wrist is about 6.1 inches (around 15.5 cm).
Next, I did some digging online. I checked out Garmin’s website and some running forums. I wanted to see what other people with similar wrist sizes were saying about the 265 and 265s. The main difference is the size, the regular 265 is a bit bigger (46mm case), and the 265s is smaller (42mm case).
I found a bunch of mixed reviews, so that made me think, the real deal is the on-wrist feel. I need to try those on my own wrist.
Then came the fun part – actually trying them on! I headed to a local sports store that carried both models.
First, I put the garmin 265, the feeling is okay, no big deal.
Next, I strapped on the 265s. Bingo! It felt much more comfortable on my wrist. The 265 felt a little too bulky, like it was overpowering my arm. The 265s, on the other hand, felt just right – present, but not overwhelming.
I also played around with the buttons and the interface on both watches. Since they have the same features, this part wasn’t about comparing functionality, but more about how easy it was to navigate with the different case sizes. I found that the smaller buttons on the 265s were still perfectly usable, even with my somewhat clumsy fingers.
My Decision
- The Garmin 265s is better for my wrist.
After all that measuring, researching, and trying-on, I decided to go with the Garmin 265s. It just felt better on my wrist, and that’s what matters most when you’re going to be wearing something for hours of running. I picked the color I liked, paid for it, and now I’m happily tracking my runs with my new, perfectly-sized watch!
