Alright, so I finally got my hands on Cyberpunk 2077 for the PS5, and I gotta say, I was pretty excited to see how it ran on the new console, specifically the PS5 Pro.
First things first, I downloaded the game. The download itself didn’t take too long, maybe around an hour or so, thanks to my pretty decent internet connection. Once it was all set up, I popped in the disc and started the game up.
I messed around with the settings a bit. I mean, that’s half the fun, right? There were two main options: performance mode and ray tracing mode. I decided to try out the performance mode first. You know, prioritize that smooth frame rate.
- Started the game in performance mode.
- Played through the first few missions.
- Honestly, it ran pretty well!
The game ran smoothly for the most part. There were a couple of instances where the frame rate dipped a little, but nothing too crazy. I explored Night City, got into some fights, and just generally messed around. The city looked good, felt alive, you know the drill.
After a while, I switched over to the ray tracing mode. I was curious to see what all the fuss was about. And damn, it did look gorgeous. The reflections, the lighting, it all added so much to the atmosphere of the game.
- Switched to ray tracing mode.
- The visuals were definitely impressive.
- But, the frame rate took a noticeable hit.
It was still playable, not like a slideshow or anything, but the drop in smoothness was definitely there. I went back to running around, doing missions, and seeing how it held up. It wasn’t bad, but I could feel the difference compared to performance mode.
My Verdict
So, after playing around with both modes for a while, here’s what I think. If you really want the best possible visuals and don’t mind sacrificing some performance, then ray tracing mode is the way to go. It really does make the game look amazing. But, if you’re like me and you prefer a smoother experience, then stick with performance mode. The game still looks great, and you get that nice, consistent frame rate.
At the end of the day, it’s all about personal preference. I suggest trying out both modes and seeing which one you like better. Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS5 Pro is definitely a solid experience, no matter which mode you choose. It’s a blast to play, the city is incredible, and I’m excited to keep exploring everything it has to offer.
