Okay, so I saw this “dust ups nyt” thing trending and I was like, “What’s that all about?” I’m always up for trying new cleaning hacks, especially if they promise to make my life easier. So, I decided to dive in and see what the fuss was about.
First, I tried to figure out what it even was. I did a little digging. Turns out, it’s not one specific method, more a bunch of cleaning tips that somehow related to that phrase.
My Experiment
I decided to try a couple of things that got my insterest.
- The first is Dusting with Dryer Sheets: It is said dryer sheets are great for picking up dust.
- The second is use a Pillowcase to Clean Ceiling Fan Blades: The idea is to trap the dust inside.
Here’s How It Went Down:
The Dryer Sheets test: I grabbed a used dryer sheet (gotta be eco-friendly, right?) and started wiping down my dusty shelves. Honestly, It worked pretty well! The dust clung to the sheet, and it left a slightly fresher scent, which was a bonus. I was pleasantly surprised. It didn’t feel sticky or leave any weird residue.
The Pillowcase Method: I was most excited and nervous about trying this. I found an old pillowcase, climbed up on a step stool (safety first!), and carefully slipped the pillowcase over one of the fan blades. Then, I slowly pulled it off, pressing against the blade to trap the dust.
Oh boy, was there a lot of dust! It was kind of gross but also super satisfying to see it all contained in the pillowcase. I repeated this for all the blades, and it really did a fantastic job. Way less messy than trying to dust them with a regular cloth, where dust just falls everywhere.
I’m kind of impressed. Both these little tricks actually * the rooms look a lot better, I’d say it’s a win! I’m going to keep using this.
