Okay, so I’ve been meaning to upgrade my running watch for a while now, and I finally narrowed it down to the Garmin Forerunner 265 and the 265s. The big question was: which size is right for me?
First, I grabbed my old, trusty measuring tape. I wrapped it around my wrist to get a good sense of the circumference. My wrist came in at around 15.5cm, which put me kind of in-between sizes, according to Garmin’s website.
Next, I headed to a local store that had both models in stock. I needed to see these things in person! I tried on the 265s first. It felt pretty good, nice and snug, and definitely not too bulky. The display was clear and easy to read, even in the bright store lighting.
Then, I switched to the regular 265. Whoa, that felt noticeably bigger! It wasn’t uncomfortable, but it definitely had more presence on my wrist. I played around with the buttons and menus on both, and they felt pretty much the same. No major differences there.
I spent a good 20 minutes just going back and forth between the two. I imagined myself running with each one, glancing down at my stats, and navigating through the menus. The 265s just felt more… natural. The larger 265, while having a slightly bigger screen, felt a little too overwhelming for my smaller wrist.
Making the Choice
Here the comparsion, after I tried, the main differents are:
- 265s: Smaller, lighter, and felt more comfortable on my wrist.
- 265: Larger screen, but felt a bit bulky for my preference.
Ultimately, I decided to go with the Forerunner 265s. It just felt like the better fit for my wrist and my running style. I didn’t want anything too distracting or heavy, and the 265s seemed to hit that sweet spot. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, and I’m super happy with my choice!
