Gab Watch Review: The Pros & Cons, Is This Right For You?

Alright folks, let me tell you about my experience with the Gab Watch. I was itching for a new smartwatch, something different from the usual Apple or Samsung suspects. I stumbled upon the Gab Watch online, and its focus on privacy and free speech kinda piqued my interest. So, I figured, why not give it a shot?

First off, ordering it was pretty straightforward. The website was clean, the checkout process was smooth, and I didn’t have any issues with payment. The watch arrived within the timeframe they specified, which was a good start.

Unboxing it was… underwhelming. The packaging was pretty basic, nothing fancy. Inside was the watch itself, a charging cable, and a quick start guide. No extra straps or anything like that. Just the bare essentials.

Setting it up was where things got a little clunky. The watch uses its own app, which you have to download from their website (not the app store). I had to fiddle with some permissions and security settings on my phone to get it to install correctly. Not a huge deal, but definitely not as seamless as setting up an Apple Watch, for example.

Once the app was installed, pairing the watch was fairly easy. The app walked me through the steps, and it connected without any major hiccups. The watch face is pretty customizable, which is nice. You can choose different widgets and layouts to suit your preferences.

Using the watch day-to-day was a mixed bag. The basic features like notifications, step tracking, and heart rate monitoring worked fine. The battery life was decent, lasting about two days on a single charge. The screen was bright and easy to read, even in sunlight.

However, there were some definite downsides. The user interface felt a bit dated and clunky. Navigating the menus wasn’t always intuitive, and the watch sometimes lagged when switching between apps. Also, the selection of apps available for the Gab Watch is pretty limited. Don’t expect to find all the popular apps you’re used to on other smartwatches.

The focus on privacy is definitely there. The watch doesn’t collect or share your data with third parties, which is a big plus if you’re concerned about that sort of thing. However, the lack of certain features and the clunky user interface might be a dealbreaker for some.

Would I recommend the Gab Watch? It depends. If you’re a die-hard privacy advocate and don’t mind sacrificing some convenience and features, then it might be worth a look. But if you’re looking for a polished, feature-rich smartwatch experience, you’re probably better off sticking with the more established brands. It really boils down to what your priorities are.

  • Pros: Privacy-focused, Customizable watch faces, Decent battery life
  • Cons: Clunky user interface, Limited app selection, Setup can be a bit tricky

So there you have it – my honest review of the Gab Watch. Hope this helps you make an informed decision!
