Okay, so I recently ran into some annoying issues with my BlueParrott B450-XT headset. Figured I’d share my troubleshooting steps in case anyone else is pulling their hair out.
The Beginning – No Sound!
First, I noticed the headset simply wasn’t playing any audio. It was connected, the little blue light was flashing like normal, but absolute silence. Super frustrating! My very first move? I checked the obvious. I made sure the volume on both the headset and my phone was turned up. Nope, still nothing.
Diving Deeper
Next, I went into my phone’s Bluetooth settings. I “forgot” the headset and then re-paired it. Sometimes that simple reset does the trick. It’s like giving it a little kick in the pants. Still no sound, though.
Firmware Shenanigans
I remembered reading something about firmware updates possibly causing problems. So, I downloaded the BlueParrott app. It has a feature to update (or sometimes, downgrade) the firmware. I tried updating, and…nothing changed. Then, I found an older firmware version online and flashed that to the headset. A bit risky, but I was desperate! Still no luck.
The Hard Reset
- I located the multifunction button (MFB).
- I pressed and held it for 10+ seconds.
- I had done hard reset yet still no response at all.
At this point, I felt defeated. I thought it might be a hardware problem, something physically broken inside.
Getting Rough
I decided to open the headset and I knew that it will destory my headset when I did it. I tried to check the speaker and I noticed that there is some loose connection and decided to solder it. I felt good with my basic electronic skills. Guess what? it worked! I managed to save my headset!
Hopefully, this messy journey helps someone out there. These headsets can be finicky, but sometimes, a little perseverance (and maybe some solder) can save the day!
