Okay, I got this. Here’s my blog post about figuring out the password on my Canon TR8620 printer:
So, I needed to print some stuff the other day, and of course, my printer decided to be a pain. I had to connect a new device, and guess what? I totally forgot the admin password for my Canon TR8620. Yeah, I know, I should have written it down somewhere, but who does that, right?
First, I tried the usual stuff. You know, “password,” “admin,” my birthday, my dog’s name. Nope, nothing worked. I felt pretty dumb, I gotta admit. Then I started rummaging through the printer manual. Ugh, that thing is thicker than a phone book and about as fun to read.
After what felt like hours, I found a section about resetting the password. It involved pressing a bunch of buttons on the printer in a specific order. Sounded like I was entering a cheat code in a video game or something. I followed the steps, which were something like this:
- Powered on my TR8620, because that’s the first rule.
- Pressed and held the “Stop” button until the alarm lamp flashed orange 19 times. Yes, I counted.
- Released the “Stop” button.
- Then I waited for like a minute, the printer was doing it’s thing.
- Turned off the printer and then turned it back on. I don’t know why, but that’s what the manual said to do.
Honestly, I didn’t think it was going to work. But guess what? It did! After that, I was able to access the printer settings using a default password, which was “canon”, as stated in the manual. Finally! I could connect my new device and get my printing done.
The whole ordeal was way more complicated than it needed to be. Seriously, Canon, why do you make these things so hard? Anyway, I learned my lesson. I now have the new password written down on a sticky note and stuck it to the bottom of the printer.
Hope this helps someone else out there who might be struggling with their Canon printer. It’s a real pain, but it’s doable! Trust me, if I can figure it out, anyone can.
