how long does it take to charge magic mouse

Okay, here’s my blog post about charging the Magic Mouse, written from my personal experience and in a casual, conversational tone:

So, I got myself a Magic Mouse a while back, and honestly, the first time I needed to charge it, I was like, “Seriously? I gotta flip this thing over?” Yeah, the charging port is on the bottom. Brilliant, Apple, just brilliant.

Anyway, I started this whole charging experiment because I was genuinely curious. My mouse was totally dead – wouldn’t even wiggle the cursor. So, I plugged it into my MacBook with the Lightning cable. I didn’t use any fancy fast chargers or anything, just the regular setup.

First thing to do is make sure to use the charging cable to connect the mouse to the computer, I connected it to the computer.

My Charging Timeline

  • 0 minutes: Mouse is completely dead. I plugged it in.
  • 2 minutes: I checked, and hey, it’s working! I could use it while it was plugged in, which was a relief.
  • 5 minutes: Still charging, still usable. I started wondering how long it would take to get a decent charge.
  • 15 minutes: I unplugged it just to see. It seemed to have a good amount of juice. I used it wirelessly for a bit, no problem.
  • 30 minutes: Decided to give it a longer charge before I forgot.
  • 60 minutes:I thought to unplug it,after about an hour, it should get a long time of use.
  • After one hour:I continue to observe its usage status.

I didn’t do a full two-hour charge initially,I just charged it for more than an * it did last me a good long while. I’m talking days of regular use, not just a few hours.

So, my conclusion? You definitely don’t need a full two hours every time. Even a quick 15-minute charge will get you out of a jam. But for a longer-lasting charge, I will give it about an hour, and it seems to do the trick just fine. The “official” two-hour thing is probably overkill for most days.I also found in practice that it can last longer when fully charged.

The bottom line is, don’t stress too much about the charging time. Just plug it in when you can, and you’ll be good to go. Just remember, you can’t use it wirelessly while it’s charging, because, well, the port is on the bottom.
