Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my Blink cameras lately, and I wanted to figure out how to get at the videos they were storing. You know, not just through the app, but like, actually download them and stuff. Here’s what I did, step by step, and hopefully, it’ll help someone else out there.
Figuring Out the Basics
First, I realized pretty quickly that Blink keeps all your videos in their “cloud”. It’s not like you can just pop an SD card out of the camera and grab the files (unless you have a Sync Module 2 with a USB, but I am talking about accessing the Blink Cloud storage.). So, the main way to get to your stuff is through the Blink app, either on your phone or tablet.
Diving into the App
So, I opened up the app and started poking around.
- I made sure I was logged in, obviously.
- Then, I went to the “Clips” section. That’s where all the recorded videos hang out.
- I saw all my clips there, neatly organized by date and time. Pretty straightforward.
Downloading Individual Clips
If you just want to save one specific video, that’s super easy.
- I just tapped on the clip I wanted.
- Then, I found a little share icon or something like that (it might look different depending on your phone).
- I Tap that, and you get options to share or download. I Picked download, and boom, it saved to my phone’s gallery or files. Easy peasy.
Thinking about Subscriptions
Now, here’s a thing I learned. Blink gives you some cloud storage for free, but it’s limited. I remember something about 7200 seconds of storage for older modules, but I am not quite sure. To get more, you gotta pay for a subscription plan. I looked into the Blink Basic Plan and the Blink Plus Plan. The Plus Plan covers all your devices, which seemed like a better deal for me, because I’ve got a few cameras.
Using the USB Drive (with Sync Module 2)
For cameras connected to Sync Module 2, I found that I could use a USB Drive to access to the clips.
- I connected the USB drive to the Sync Module 2.
- Through Blink App, I could see the local storage on the USB Drive.
- I tapped on the clip I wanted.
- I tried to find the little download icon or three dots to download the clips. It is very similar to downloading clips from Blink Cloud Storage.
What I Still Want to Figure Out
So, that’s where I’m at. I can get my videos, either one at a time through the app or use a USB drive with Sync Module 2, but I am still a bit confused with the details on free storage of Blink Cloud. I need to do a bit more digging, but for now, at least I know how to grab my clips!
