I saw some people talking about modified iPhones the other day, and there was this one called “iPhone modified gold” that caught my eye. I thought it sounded pretty cool, so I decided to give it a shot myself. I’ve got an old iPhone lying around, so I figured, why not try to turn it into gold?
First, I did some digging online to see what this whole gold iPhone thing was all about. Turns out, there are companies that make these crazy expensive custom iPhones. Like, we’re talking tens of thousands of dollars. They slap real gold and even Rolex watches on them. Then I saw that most normal people go for 24k gold plating, which is more affordable than solid gold for sure.
I started by gathering my supplies. I got a gold plating kit online, which came with some gold solution, a special pen, and some other stuff. I also needed my old iPhone, some cleaning supplies, and a bit of patience.
The process was actually trickier than I thought.
- First, I had to take apart my iPhone. I’m no tech expert, so I just followed some YouTube videos. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but I managed to get it disassembled without breaking anything.
- Next, I had to clean every part meticulously. Any dust or oil could mess up the plating process. I used some special cleaning solutions and made sure everything was spotless.
- After cleaning, I connected the parts to be plated to the power supply that came with the kit.
- Then came the plating itself. I used the special pen from the kit to apply the gold solution to the iPhone parts I wanted to be gold. It took a few coats to get a nice, even layer. This part required a lot of patience. I had to go slow and steady to avoid any streaks or bubbles.
- Once I was happy with the plating, I had to let it dry and then reassemble the phone. Putting it back together was even more stressful than taking it apart! I was so scared of messing up the gold finish.
But, in the end, it worked! I had my very own “gold” iPhone. It’s not real solid gold like those crazy expensive ones, but it’s got a nice gold plating that looks pretty sweet. The color is actually really nice, and it feels kind of special to hold.
My Result
I gotta say, it was a fun project. It wasn’t easy, and it took a lot of time and effort, but it was worth it. I learned a lot about how iPhones are put together and how gold plating works. Plus, now I have a unique phone that none of my friends have. If you’re looking for a fun DIY project and you’re into tech, I’d say give it a try. Just be prepared for a bit of a challenge!
