Alright, let me tell you about my little iPhone SE case and card holder project. It was a fun one, and I learned a thing or two along the way.
So, it all started because I was tired of carrying both my phone and my wallet. Super annoying, right? I wanted something simple, something that could hold a couple of cards and stick to my phone. I figured, “Hey, why not just make one?”
First, I went online and looked at a bunch of different card holders. Just to get some ideas, you know? Saw some cool leather ones, some silicone ones, even some that were just stretchy fabric. I decided to go with a simple leather look, but not real leather – something more durable and easier to work with.
I ordered some faux leather online – a nice, dark brown color. Then, I measured my phone and the cards I wanted to carry. I figured two cards would be enough for now. I sketched out a basic design: a rectangular piece of faux leather, folded in half to create a pocket, with an adhesive backing to stick it to the phone case.
Next came the cutting. I used a sharp utility knife to cut the faux leather to size. This part was a bit tricky; I wanted to make sure the edges were clean and straight. A metal ruler helped a lot. I cut a slightly larger piece than needed so I could trim it down later.
Then, I folded the faux leather in half and used some strong adhesive to glue the sides together. I clamped it down with some binder clips while it dried. Gotta make sure that glue holds, ya know?
Once the glue was dry, I trimmed the edges to make them nice and even. A little sanding with some fine-grit sandpaper smoothed things out. Now it was starting to look like an actual card holder!
The next step was the adhesive backing. I bought some double-sided adhesive sheets, cut them to size, and stuck them to the back of the card holder. I made sure to leave a little bit of the adhesive sheet exposed so I could easily peel off the backing later.
Finally, it was time to stick it to my phone case. I cleaned the back of my phone case with some alcohol to make sure the adhesive would stick properly. Then, I carefully aligned the card holder and pressed it firmly onto the case.
And that was it! My DIY iPhone SE case and card holder was done. I slipped my two most-used cards into the pocket, and it worked perfectly. It’s not the prettiest thing in the world, but it’s functional, and it saved me from carrying a wallet. Plus, it was kinda fun to make.
Would I do it again? Probably. I might try using real leather next time, and maybe add some stitching for a more polished look. But for now, I’m happy with my little DIY project.
So, there you have it – my iPhone SE case and card holder journey. Give it a try yourself if you’re feeling crafty!
