Okay, so the other day, I noticed my Fitbit’s time was totally off. Like, an hour behind. I think it happened after I traveled, flew back home, you know? Or maybe it was that daylight saving thing kicking in, can’t recall exactly. Whatever it was, the time displayed was just wrong, and that’s kinda useless for a watch, right?
My first reaction was to poke around on the Fitbit itself. Tapping the screen, pressing the side button, trying to find some hidden menu. But nope, nothing there lets you change the actual hours and minutes directly. I spent a few minutes fiddling with it before I remembered – these things usually get their time from your phone.
So, I grabbed my smartphone. Made sure the Bluetooth was on, because the Fitbit talks to the phone using that. Then I opened up the Fitbit app. It’s the main place where you see all your steps and stuff.
Inside the app, I just pulled down on the main screen, the dashboard part. You know, like you do to refresh email? That forces it to sync up with the Fitbit device on my wrist. I saw the little syncing progress bar at the top.
Making sure it syncs is usually the main step. I just waited for it to say it was finished connecting and updating.
After the sync was done, I looked down at my Fitbit. Success! The time had corrected itself. It pulled the current time right from my phone automatically. Easy peasy this time.
What If Syncing Doesn’t Fix It?
Now, I do remember one time, probably last year, where just syncing didn’t work. The time stayed stubbornly wrong. If that happens, you have to dig a bit deeper into the app’s settings. It’s usually a time zone issue.
Here’s what I had to do then:
- Go back into the Fitbit app on the phone.
- Tap on my little profile icon or picture, usually in the top corner.
- Then I had to scroll down and find the settings menu. I think it was called ‘App Settings’ or something similar.
- Inside there, I looked specifically for an option related to ‘Time Zone’.
- I found it, and there was a switch like ‘Automatic Time Zone’ or ‘Set Automatically’.
- Mine was somehow turned off that time. So I just toggled it back ON. If yours is already ON, maybe try turning it OFF, syncing, then turning it back ON and syncing again. Sometimes that jiggles it loose.
- Crucially, after changing that setting, you MUST sync your Fitbit again. Go back to the main dashboard and pull down to refresh/sync.
That fixed it for me that other time when the simple sync didn’t work. The Fitbit got the right time zone info from the phone and updated the clock correctly.
So, that’s my experience with getting the Fitbit clock right. Most of the time, just open the app and sync. If you’re still stuck, check those time zone settings in the app itself. Took me a couple of tries the first time, but it’s pretty straightforward once you know where to look. Hope this helps someone else out!
