Okay, so I finally caved and got myself a Fitbit Versa 4. I’d been eyeing it for a while, and after my old tracker bit the dust, I figured it was time for an upgrade. I’m gonna walk you through what I did, from unboxing to actually using the thing.

Unboxing and Setup

First things first, getting that box open! Inside, you’ve got the Versa 4 itself, a charging cable (magnetic, which is kinda neat), and some extra bands in different sizes. I immediately swapped out the band for a smaller one – gotta get that snug fit, you know?

Next, I charged it up. While it was juicing, I downloaded the Fitbit app on my phone. I already had an account from my old tracker, so I just logged in. If you’re new to Fitbit, you’ll need to create an account – it’s pretty straightforward, just follow the prompts.

Once the Versa 4 was charged, I paired it with my phone through the app. It uses Bluetooth, so make sure that’s turned on. The app walks you through the pairing process, it’s pretty idiot-proof, even for me!

Exploring the Features

With everything connected, I started poking around. The touchscreen is pretty responsive, and swiping through the different screens is easy. There are tiles for things like steps, heart rate, sleep tracking, and exercises.

  • Steps and Activity: This is the basic stuff – tracking how many steps I take, how far I walk, and how many calories I burn. It also gives you little reminders to move if you’ve been sitting for too long.
  • Heart Rate: The Versa 4 continuously monitors your heart rate, which is cool. You can see your resting heart rate, and how it changes during workouts.
  • Sleep Tracking: I’m really interested in this one. It tracks how long you sleep, and breaks it down into different stages (light, deep, REM). I’m hoping to use this to improve my sleep habits.
  • Exercise Modes: there have so much exercise modes!

My First Workout

I used it for exercises tracking.

It automatically recognized my workout, which was a nice surprise. During the workout, I could see my heart rate and how many calories I was burning in real-time.

Overall First Impressions

So far, so good! The Fitbit Versa 4 seems like a solid upgrade from my old tracker. It’s comfortable to wear, the battery life seems decent (they claim up to 6 days, I’ll have to see about that), and the app is easy to navigate. I’m still figuring out all the features, but I’m excited to see how it helps me with my fitness goals. I’ll keep messing around with it and maybe give an update later on.
